The Story of General Booth
1. Love is to be our PRIORITY (1 Corinthians 12:31; 13:1-3, 13)
1 Corinthians 12:31 (NKJV) (4:03.443)
31 But earnestly desire the best gifts. And yet I show you a more excellent way.
1 Corinthians 13:1-3 (4:11.911)
The Greatest Gift
13 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. 2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing. –“Understand that the priority of life has to be Love, Love is an action not just an emotion.”
2. Love is to be our PRACTICE
1 Corinthians 13:4-7 (7:47.440)
4 Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up;
5 does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; 6 does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; 7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
3. Love is our Greatest POWER
1 Corinthians 13:8-12 (8:35.151)
8 Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part. 10 But when that which is perfect has come, then that which is in part will be done away.
11 When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things. 12 For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known. –“Love is our POWER on this Earth.”
— Galatians 5 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.
4. Love is PROVIDED to us
Galatians 5:22-23 (9:21.517)
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.
5. Love is our PERMANENT RESOURCE
1 Corinthians 13:13 (9:42.716)
13 And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love. — “Love NEVER wears out. Everything is changing and wearing down. — 2nd law of thermodynamics — But there is one thing that is constant in the universe and that is the Love of God! “
— God’s Love will Never Fail You!
6. Love is PERSONIFIED for us
John 13:1,13-17 (12:00.147)
13 Now before the Feast of the Passover, when Jesus knew that His hour had come that He should depart from this world to the Father, having loved His own who were in the world, He loved them to the end. –“No one has taken the time to anoint their heads with oils, no one has taken the time to wash their feet.” –“Jesus Washes the Disciples’ Feet”
13 You call Me Teacher and Lord, and you say well, for so I am.14 If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet.15 For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you.16 Most assuredly, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his master; nor is he who is sent greater than he who sent him.17 If you know these things, blessed (happy) are you if you do them.
