1 Peter 4:8 (NKJV) (00:05.968)
8 And above all things have fervent love for one another, for “love will cover a multitude of sins.”
1 John 4:1-6 (NKJV) (1:19.348)
1.Love is how God Communicates
4 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world. —“The implication is that the true child of God is a person with the Love of God in their life.” —“The false prophets can not love because the false prophet does NOT have God living in their life.”
2 By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, —
3 and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. — “If they come to you preaching Jesus and they say well Jesus was a great teacher or a great prophet but not God”, that’s a FASLE teacher!
And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world. –“Those who refuse to declare Jesus to be The Son of God are of the Anti-Christ”
4 You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. —
5 They are of the world. Therefore they speak as of the world, and the world hears them. –“John is talking about the false prophets again. They can’t speak out of Love because they don’t have God living in them.”
6 We are of God. He who knows God hears us; he who is not of God does not hear us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error. –“THE SPIRIT OF TRUTH is – If you know Jesus Christ as your savior and you study and know the Bible, when someone comes along and teaches something other than the word of God, that is the SPIRIT OF ERROR.”
1 John 4:7-8 (NKJV) (10:18.091)
2. Love is who God is
7 Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. 8 He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. –“When you trust Jesus Christ as savior, God, who is Love, takes up residence in your heart.”
9 In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. 10 In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. 11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.
1 John 4:9-10 (NKJV) (14:38.876)
3. Love is What God Did
9 In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. 10 In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. — “Jesus paid it all! All to him I owe”
11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.
1 John 2:2 (NKJV) (15:13.096)
2 And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world.
1 John 4:12-16 (NKJV) (16:14.653)
4. Is what God is Doing
12 No one has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God abides in us, and His love has been perfected in us. –“When the Love of God is resident in me and you, we can Love each other, no matter what our differences are.”
13 By this we know that we abide in Him, and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit. –“When you have the Holy Spirit living within you he empowers you with this love”
14 And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent the Son as Savior of the world.
